i agree with the suit in that terraria was made for the player to play how the devs want them to, and that starbound is open to the player determining what kind of game it is for them. I dearly love both starbound and terraria. the time it takes to go from the opening sequence to the end game - if you're really focused - is much less than it takes to kill terraria's end game boss (although equivalent to the length of terraria before it started adding more content). I would say the Starbound story is worth playing through vanila, on single or two player, at least once.
#Starbound soulseeker mods
While others download hundreds of mods and wonder which one of those hundreds broke their game. Some spend hours making elaborate items like Massive Calculators. Some people spend their entire time only making buildings. You can just sit in one place and make a giant farm if you want. Starbound is more of a game - make a game of how you want to play it. To alleviate it - it lets you hunt for rare weapons and armor through grinding. Terreriia is a game more focused on how the Developer wants you to play. is there a decent amount of content in this game? I was wondering, as far as content and mods go, how long can I expect to be playing this game? I ask because one of the main reason I love Terraria was the mods and vanilla content kept me hooked! So to put it short. At first sight I thought, "wow this looks like Terraria." and so I looked into it. Eventually, ships could hold a tremendous amount of fuel (players reported to have gotten fuel capacity well over 10,000) though fuel capacity reset whenever your ship is upgraded.Originally posted by Blakeholen2.0:I am wondering weather or not to buy this game. Left alone mechanics would endlessly buff fuel capacity by 100. Prior to Version 1.3.0, mechanics improved the ship's fuel capacity by 100 units periodically when left on the ship.

Mechanics do not possess ranged weaponry, so they cannot hurt enemies which cannot be reached. In combat, they will attempt to hit enemies with an NPC Wrench, a two-handed weapon which behaves somewhat like a Soulseeker, having a Tier 1 base DPS of 11 and a fire time of 0.83 seconds (this results in 9.13 base damage for a single hit at tier 1). Mechanics will engage in combat when chosen as a travel companion.

Further mechanics will continue to reduce cost as close to a total reduction of 20%, but this value cannot be reached. The initial mechanic reduces required fuel by 10%, the next by 5% (15% total cost reduction), then 2.5% (17.5% total), etc. Mechanics improve the efficiency of your ship's FTL drive by reducing the amount of fuel required to travel with diminishing returns. If a Tenant is an Electrictian, they have a significantly higher chance to become a Mechanic (50%) compared to other NPCs (16.7%). If a friendly NPC or a Tenant is either a guard (of any type), Prison Convict, or an Apex Rebel, they have a slightly higher chance to become a Mechanic (25%) compared to other NPCs (16.7%).

However, there are a few ways to increase the chance for an NPC to become a mechanic: Mechanics can be recruited the same way all other crew roles (except Outlaw) can by completing procedurally-generated NPC quests, which will give the quest giver a chance to turn into a recruit-able crew member with a 1/6 base chance to choose the Mechanic class. Mechanics are a crew member role for player ships.
